Cool Off in the Basement

When my inlaws visit they sleep in the basement which is very cold even with the heat on. One one visit my wife and father-in-law got into a heated discussion and my wife told her Dad that he should "go down to the basement and cool off." The next morning my wife woke up and said, "Oh no, I feel terrible. I turned off the heat yesterday and forgot to turn it back on." Her Dad definitely cooled off that night.
